El Horno is a fabulous Wellington bar situated on the very alive ‘Courtenay Place strip’. It’s decor, Hispanic/Western theme and traditional Sangria - the drink of Spain offers people the opportunity to ‘party like they are in Spain’ right in the heart of Wellington. You can also party like a ‘cowboy’ on Saturday nights with free cowboy hats or dance like a ‘flamenco’ with live flamenco dancers on Friday’s. For events, engagement parties, cocktails & canapés or special birthdays El Horno is a great spot offering space for up to 100 guests.
As much as the word ‘El Horno’ sounds uncouth the true meaning of it is ‘the furnace’ in Spanish. We came across this word one night when practicing our Spanish (over quite a few wines) before our trip to Europe in 2007 and we just loved it! Straight away we knew the next bar we opened was going to be called ‘El Horno’ and what a talking point this has been.............. After an amazing trip and some brilliant nights in Spanish bars we knew Wellington needed some outstanding flavour from across the other side of the world – so El Horno is our version. Please party at our place, enjoy yourselves and even dance on the bar if you wish............. we encourage it!
